NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
Thibodaux Family Church is honored to coordinate the Annual National Day of Prayer. On Thursday, May 5th, we will come together in prayer from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the Thibodaux Courthouse on Green St. The theme is “EXALT THE LORD, WHO HAS ESATABILSHED US.” The National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a nation. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. Our founding fathers sought this wisdom and grace at the first call to prayer in 1775 when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for the forming of our nation.
The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans. It is a day for citizens and leaders alike to remember our heritage and our responsibilities to present and future generations. We stand for America, whose Pledge of Allegiance recounts that we are “one nation under God” and whose currency states that it is “in God we trust.” Our prayer is for every American to encounter the God who rules over this nation and to be touched by His love. Everyone is invited!
MOTHER’S DAY
May 8th is Mother’s Day and what theme is more universal than motherhood? We Catholics prize that nurturing relationship so highly that we call our Church, “Holy Mother,” and we venerate Mary, the mother of Jesus, for her pivotal role in the life of our Lord and Savior. Yet, Mother’s Day can bring with it an excess of emotion and memories. Any mother can attest to the difficulty and challenge of the task of parenting. And mothers come in all shapes and sizes. Some mothers are birth mothers, some are adoptive. Some mothers are the grandmas or aunts who raised us. Some mothers left us far too soon. Some mothers are the people we rebelled against; some mothers are the women we idolized. Most often, our mothers were probably both. It’s a complex relationship, this parenting. During the month of May, we honor and remember not just our own moms, but Mary, the Mother of God. We see her as the great symbol of motherhood and as our role model. Let us ask Mary’s intercession, so that in our endeavors to be good stewards and to raise good stewards, to nurture in the faith those entrusted to us, she might come to our assistance and guide us with her motherly understanding. And on Mother’s Day, we ask Mary to bless all mothers, especially our own. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! (International Catholic Stewardship)

St. Charles Parish
Pastoral Council Election
The Parish Pastoral Council Election was scheduled for May 7-8. Since there were four places to fill and only four names were submitted, no election is necessary. The four new Members are John Danos, Dionne Robichaux, Chad Rodrigue, and Helen Zeringue. We welcome them and thank them for their willingness to serve the church in this capacity. We thank those who have served in the past: Amber Anderson, Keith Labat, John Landry, and Katina Navarre. We thank those who will continue to serve on the Council along with the four new Members: David Champagne, Rachael Matherne, Meryl Trahan, Cathy Weimer, and Yvonne Weimer.
John H. Danos
I was born and raised in St Charles Borromeo Community. My parents were Herbert and Joyce Danos. I am a graduate of EDW High School in Thibodaux, and LSU in Engineering. I returned “home” 2 years ago and reside in our family home on the bayou and returned as a parishioner to St Charles Borromeo Church. I am lector at church at Sunday morning mass, and as often as possible, attend weekday mass. It would be a blessing and honor to serve as a member of the Parish Council of St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Dionne Robichaux
I have been a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo all of my life. Family and faith are important to me. My late son, Kerry, was an altar server and my granddaughter just received the Sacrament of Confirmation here at St. Charles Borromeo. Volunteering as a mentor with the Adult/Youth Formation program has strengthened my faith and given me the desire to become more involved in my church community. I look forward to being a member of the Parish Council.
Chad Rodrigue
I have been a member of St. Charles Borromeo parish since 1999. I am married to Sherry, and we have two sons, Matthew and Jacob. I am a pharmacist at Chabert Medical Center. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, vacations, and fishing. I am known throughout the Thibodaux area for my organic blueberries. I look forward to serving on the Parish Council.
Helen Zeringue
I am a lifelong resident and parishioner of St. Charles and have three children: Kathryn, Maria, and Andrew Zeringue. Over the years, I learned from my mother, Myra Blanchard, that serving your church through volunteering offered many opportunities to grow in faith, which has inspired me to become more involved in our Church community. I am a member of the Liturgy Committee and have volunteered numerous hours helping in the office and decorating our church. I look forward to serving as a member of the Parish Council and being a part of the future of St. Charles Church.
