Planning for the Future
With any big decision in life, it is always helpful to research and consider options, and a final resting place is no exception. Whether you are preparing for a burial of a loved one or planning for a future burial, knowing in advance that a final resting place is secured can alleviate added emotional stress of family members when a death occurs. Many families are purchasing mausoleums or tombs as part of their legacy. Here at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, we have mausoleum crypts and cremation niches, along with single door tombs available for purchase. We are in the process of building additional single and double door tombs. If you are interested in purchasing a mausoleum or tomb, or learning more about the cost, please call the Administration Office. -
Funerals
How to make arrangements – Contact Father Carl to inform him of a death and discuss a tentative funeral date and time. Family members shall meet with the funeral home first to make arrangements. The funeral home will coordinate with the church the necessary information. The family shall then meet with Father Carl to finalize the arrangements. It is important to remember that necessary paperwork is required to be completed for the funeral/burial while meeting with Father Carl.
Perpetual Care
Perpetual Care is a service offered between the cemetery and the owner of a memorial, in which the cemetery will guarantee certain care and maintenance forever. This service is offered by the Office of Cemeteries of the Houma-Thibodaux Diocese.- Tombs, slabs and vaults constructed of concrete, marble or granite are all potentially eligible for perpetual care.
- The Office of Cemeteries will conduct an inspection and send you a no-obligation, no-cost proposal to get your memorial in acceptable condition. The proposal will include the cost of Perpetual Care of your memorial.
- Memorials will be inspected periodically for necessary repairs or maintenance. Cleaning of stone, re-grouting stone joints, cleaning and/or painting of cement finishes, repairs to roof, and other such repairs may be performed to maintain the memorial’s condition.

Tomb/Mausoleum Titles
The Office of Cemeteries of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, in accordance with Louisiana law, mandate that the title (not a copy) must be presented to the Church or Cemetery Office prior to a burial. If you do not have the title and are unable to acquire the title, an Indemnification Agreement is available to have signed and notarized allowing the Cemetery to open a grave without a title. You may also want to consider discussing this with family members and/or attorney, after a death and during a succession to avoid future issues that may arise. Any questions?
